Garrett Seuser will discuss the artifacts found on the Kimble property near Wildcat Creek, which was the intersection of the Fort Leavenworth/Fort Riley Military Trail. This location served as a significant campsite from approximately 1853 to 1866, as evidenced by the many military artifacts unearthed there. Additionally, the G.W. Eubanks cabin, located on the property, was a well-known stop for early settlers of Manhattan, as well as for soldiers and traders. Join Garret for a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of frontier military life, see the actual artifacts that were recovered, and learn about their historical significance and connection to the early history of Riley County.Garrett is an avocational archaeologist as well as a middle and high school history teacher. A lifelong Kansan, he has spent his free time researching and discovering hidden sites across the state and Midwest using his metal detector. His focus is searching for military and emigrant campsites.
