About this Event
Article 31 at 20: Progress and Remaining Gaps on Statistics and Data
The United Nations (UN) Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) cannot be monitored without statistics and data. Article 31 of the CRPD aims to measure progress of persons with disabilities in the implementation of the Convention through statistics and data collection and supports evidence-based policies. The goals of the side event are:
(i) to take stock of progress and remaining gaps in producing data and disability-disaggregated statistics in line with CRPD Article 31,
(ii) to envision what is required to scale up progress in statistics and data collection,
(iii) to showcase examples of data initiatives since 2006, including OPD-led data projects, and
(iv) to highlight good examples of inclusive disability data processes.
