Artful Glow is a hands-on candle-making experience rooted in care, memory, and creative presence. Glow’s artistic practice is shaped by Oaxacan materials, ancestral knowledge, and movement across borders—both seen and unseen. Through Up Zell, she offers workshops as a living practice that honors sustainability, Indigenous ways of knowing, and the quiet power of gathering.
During this session, participants will learn how to make hand-rolled taper beeswax candles from beginning to end, using locally sourced beeswax sheets, natural herbs, and decorative elements. What begins as working with wax, fire, and natural materials becomes an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the body, and engage creativity as a form of care.
The workshop gently weaves together skill-building and reflection. Participants are invited to consider candle-making as a vessel of care—one that carries intention, grounding, and everyday ritual into their lives. Space will be held for light meditation, shared reflection (optional), and quiet moments of making, allowing participants to engage at their own pace and comfort level. Participants are encouraged to bring their own decor items—like foraged or dried herbs, and flowers—to decorate their taper candles.
Glow facilitates with an accessibility-centered approach and can offer the workshop bilingually (English/Spanish) if helpful for the group.
