To mark the 150th anniversary of an artful New York institution, Lincoln Glenn and Graham Shay 1857 galleries, jointly present 150 Years of Influential Instructors: Historical Teachers at the Art Students League (on view thru Feb 28, 2025).
Located in a historic building on West 57th Street As in the style of a French atelier, the Arts Students League offers a wide variety of classes, artist studio space and creative freedom for all. The institution is an integral part of NYC art world history and continues to inspire artists today.
The exhibition features works by some of its legendary teachers, including Adolph Gottlieb, Paul Manship, Guy Pene du Bois, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Chaim Gross, Everett Shinn, Jose de Creeft, Jacob Lawrence. and Wolf Kahn.
