A day of art experimentation, taking an old book and transforming the pages, plus collage, printmaking and painting at the State Library.
About this Event

In this all-day workshop, we’ll start by exploring some mixed media techniques to alter the pages of old books, and look at ways to incorporate collage and printmaking into your art. Then in the afternoon it’s time for free creative play. You get to choose which one — or all — of these artmaking practices you want to explore more.

For inspiration, we’ll also tour the exhibition Paper Universe: The book as art, which showcases around 100 unique and rarely seen artists’ books.

If you’re curious about trying different art techniques, using the Library collections as inspiration for artmaking, and you want to explore your creativity in a beautiful art space — this is the workshop for you!

It’s designed for all levels of experience. We supply the materials, but if you have an old book that you’d like to transform, please bring it along.

Morning tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.

Please meet at the entrance to the John B Fairfax Learning Centre, Ground Floor, Mitchell Library Building.
