Jason Freeman, a professional speaker and poet, will be facilitating a conversation about how art of all forms gives voice to people of all abilities and backgrounds, and unifies communities. Joining Jason as panelists will be Heather Pickering, Artistic Director of Flutter Productions, an all-ability theater program, part of Black Hills Works; Leah Nixon, Founder and Artistic Direct of Tiny & Snail, a keepsake card company that believes “there’s magic in the mail”; Dr. Matthew Simmons, a retired neurologist and Associate Dean for the Humanities in Medical Education at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, who believes art and humanities play an important role in medicine; and Marty Two Bulls, Jr., the acting director of Rapid City Arts Council and accomplished artist who brings a deep commitment to the arts, cultural equity, and community development. Doors open at 5:30 pm, with the event from at 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
