Gertrude Abercrombie's close circle of queer friends and artists deeply influenced her painting's subjects and motifs, and inspired her famous parties that lasted into the night. For this edition of Art Queeries, we pay homage to her 'continuous gatherings' by exploring her paintings through a queer lens with facilitated conversations by Christian Adame, Mirken Director of Learning and Engagement, Sarah Humphreville, Lunder Curator of American Art, Christopher T. Richards, Visiting Assistant Professor of Art, and Colby students. After time in the galleries, join us for a shared meal in the museum's lobby. This event is free and open to all.The Art Queeries series brings together local and campus communities to explore queerness in art through conversations facilitated by museum staff and special guests followed by a free community meal.
