Ann Mitchell Jazz performs memorable hits and songs that were penned by Miss Peggy Lee, such as Fever, Why Don't You Do Right, I'm A Woman. Peggy Lee is remembered for her sultry, soft singing voice along with her ability to draw in an audience through her intimate performance. She collaborated with her husband, guitarist Dave Barbour as well as Cy Coleman, Victor Young, Duke Ellington, Dave Gruisin. Her impressive six decade career as a creator/performer earned her numerous awards in the music industry.

Ann Mitchell has been hailed as one of Upstate New York’s musical “gems” as well as a new found hidden “treasure” for those who happen to meet and hear her for the very first time. She has been delighting audiences for many years with her vast repertoire and amazing vocals that feature timeless classics spanning the Jazz era from the 1930’s through the 1950’s. Ann’s great focus has been to preserve and share these wonderful songs recorded by artists such as Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, and Judy Garland – through her own love and appreciation of these masters in their genre. Her interpretation and representation of these artists’ music are an inspiration to listeners of all ages and musical tastes.

Ann Mitchell attended SUNY Brockport, earning her degree in Theatre. Upon Graduation, she found her niche in jazz performance as the vocalist for the former bands, Brass Menagerie Big Band and Bob Ames & Co. Ann formed her own combo to focus her performance on the rich vocals of the Jazz era’s timeless classics. Mitchell, is also a versatile creator/performer of specialized shows: A Tribute to Peggy Lee; JUDY! A Song Is Born; The Fabulous Females of the 40’s/50’s; Songs of Burt Bacharach - Remembering the chart hits of a POP legend.
Mitchell’s list of appearances has included: Jazz 90.1 LIVE On Air Concerts, and in person events, The Cabaret at Studio B, KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival, Northwest Jazz Festival in Lewiston, NY, JazzBuffalo, Wegmans, Rochester Regional Health, The New York State Fair, Fox Rochester’s Good Day Rochester, News 10 NBC, countless festivals, concerts and private events.
Pianist John Gabriele has been a teacher and musician in the Rochester area for four decades. Until his retirement, John taught at Rochester’s School of the Arts, where he conducted an award-winning choir, and wrote several texts for piano and music theory that are in use today. He has played hundreds of gigs in venues all around the Northeast as a soloist, accompanist, and band member.
Joining Ann and John will be notable jazz upright bassists, Kyle Vock. The three appeared a few years ago to a sod out audience at a special event i the Pan Am Room of the Terrace at Delaware Park. A stellar night and an opportunity that should not be missed!
