"Big Tumor, Young Woman” is a serio/comedic one-woman show about being diagnosed with cancer at 31 years old. Finally, all of this trauma has turned itself into art! About the performer:
Becki Zaritsky is thrilled and nervous to be sharing her story! A teaser of this show debuted in August 2023 at The Flagstaff Foundry, though it's very unlikely to end with Becki shaving her head again... Originally from Philadelphia, Becki first came to Flagstaff to work with Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival in 2019. Then in 2021 something totally unexpected happened: she decided to make Flagstaff home (okay, "Flagstuck" is a saying for a reason...). And then in 2022, well, that's when life really took a turn, and thus, "Big Tumor, Young Woman."
Since arriving in town, she has been in ten productions with Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival (most recently in the collaborative "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with FlagShakes and the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra), and has also performed with The Phoenix Theatre Company (24-Hour Theatre Project) and Emerson Theater Collaborative ("Indecent"). Becki has also worked with theatre companies across the country and the globe, most notably as the Assistant Stage Manager for the International Tour of "West Side Story."
Becki is a member of the improv team Chomsky School of Business, a student aerialist at Momentum Aerial, and one of the Shrews on the podcast “Untamed Shrews: Women Talk Theatre.” www.BeckiZaritsky.com
