Joel Cole and Alf Pedersen welcome you to an afternoon exhibition of their work.Located in one of only 5 “fiskerhus” (fisherman’s boathouses) left in Esbjerg, the workshop/gallery is owned by Alf and houses his permanent art collection. You will have music, a bite to eat, something to drink, and plenty of cozy, comfortable conversation around the Faroe Islands, the Faroese art scene, and multi-cultural collaboration.
Joel Cole is a Faroese American who has traveled to and lived in the Faroe Islands for nearly 40 years. His work incorporates natural materials (mostly wood derived from his native Minnesota River valley) in unique ways to address the human condition as it relates to being foreign, strange, and on the periphery. His art studio is located in an abandoned NATO base high in the mountains just north of the capital of Tórshavn. He lives in a small Faroese village with his wife and 3 children, his two older children live in America.
