Juliette’s love affair with art began in school and continued from that early age throughout her educational pursuits at the University of Colorado where she earned a degree in Fine Arts.Teaching classes brought her to the realization that a closer study of flowers and fruit was something she should explore further. Students often wanted to paint a vase of flowers or a plate of fruit – just as so many of the French Impressionists did.
She enjoyed painting on silk, but after retirement in 2016 switched to watercolors. Juliette says, “My art has become a closer study of the natural world with a bit of whimsy thrown in. I am attracted to painting animals and birds. Many people comment on the animal’s expressions and their eyes, which are fun to capture. Dogs and cats are favorites for me. I use lots of bright colors to show off the versatility of watercolor. I also have a streak of whimsy that sometimes appears in purple ears or turquoise eye lashes – on animals only! Often, we go about our daily lives and do not notice the beauty around us. Becoming better acquainted with nature has been a journey of delight.”
