
This five-day art camp, titled “ An Art Camp on Bihar’s Folk Traditions”, is an initiative to celebrate, preserve and promote the rich diverse folk art heritage of Bihar . Bringing together some of Bihar’s most esteemed folk artists, the camp will serve as a vibrant platform for artistic exchange, learning and collaborative creation The camp will feature the following renowned artists whose work has significantly contributed to the recognition of Bihar’s folk art on national and international platforms:
1. Padma Shri Baua Devi - a celebrated Mithila (Madhubani) artist known for her deep connection to traditional themes
2. Padma Shri Dulari Devi - a leading Mithila (Madhubani) artist, who has brought folk art to the global stage
3. Padma Shri Ashok Kumar Biswas - a master artist in Tikuli art who is keeping this traditional arts form alive
4. Ms. Shibani Biswas - a celebrated Tikuli artist known for her deep connection to traditional themes
5. Ms. Asha Devi - recognised for her artistic excellence in Sujni Art
6. Ms. Firdous Kouser - known for her excellence in Applique (embroidery) art form.
This camp will provide an opportunity to engage directly with traditional artists, witness live demonstrations and gain a deeper understanding of the materials, techniques and narratives that define Bihar’s folk art.
