Art as Radical Reimagining: Ophelia Cornet Presents ‘Align’ at MoMo

New Mexico artist Ophelia Cornet creates in response to the chaotic times we are living in—a world that is accelerated, aggressive, excessively masculine, and materialistic. The work made for her upcoming Santa Fe exhibition, “Ophelia Cornet: Align,” offers a window into an alternate world.

She reminds us of a feminine alignment where women, who are inherently creators of life, care, community, and social movements, take center stage. Cornet says, “I portray women empowered in and by the fullness of their femininity—flourishing, resilient, and nurturing. I celebrate these qualities as not only vital for women, but for all people and the world we live in.” This message is conveyed through her proprietary “Fotura” technique of blending original photographs and painting.
