About this Event
Join The Writer’s Block for Around the Block: A Literary Tour of Black Dallas, an inspiring live author conversation featuring acclaimed Dallas writer Dr. Froswa’ Booker-Drew, author of Front Porch Wisdom.
This special evening invites the community to gather in the spirit of the “front porch” — a powerful symbol in Black communities where stories are shared, wisdom is passed down, and relationships are built. Together, we’ll explore the literary and cultural history of Black neighborhoods across West, North, South, and East Dallas — and how storytelling continues to shape our city.
What to Expect:
- A featured talk and live reading by Dr. Booker-Drew
- Audience Q&A
- Student writer spotlight
- Networking with local educators, authors, and book lovers
- Two community service hours available for students
This event is perfect for students, educators, book clubs, aspiring writers, and anyone passionate about Black history, culture, and community storytelling.
