About this Event
We're pleased to collaborate again with botanical perfumer Persephenie, as she leads a class devoted to creating beautiful and aromatic smokable blends.
Smoking has a history rich in recreational, medicinal, and spiritual use.
Come reclaim this beautiful human pastime with a focus on organic, botanical North American herbs.
In this class you will learn about traditional smoking materials, the different types of tobacco, and how to process and blend them. We will smell, experience, burn, and discuss various blends while exploring the properties and folklore around these potent and often mystical herbs.
Students will make and take home approximately twenty herbal cigarettes.
Topics covered:
+ introduction to aromatic materials and scent evaluation
+ introduction to blending herbs and tobacco
+ introduction to history of smoking
Take-Aways:
+ individually made herbal cigarettes
Safety Note:
Some aromatic materials can have side effects when applied to skin or ingested . The information and teaching materials presented in our classes are for educational purposes only. These are not intended for commercial use and do not necessarily reflect commercial best practices or industry safety standards. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Persephenie is a multivalent creator with interests in art, design, and the olfactory. She opened her aromatic studio in Los Angeles in 2004, and has been teaching classes around scent practices since 2006. While her expertise is in perfumery and incense that make use of natural and rare materials, she simultaneously supports an arts practice, focusing her efforts in painting and craft. With personal shifting priorities and existing in complex times, sharing a different aspect of her work and offering experiential encounters feels intimately important and relevant.

ATTENDANCE AND CANCELLATION POLICY FOR IN PERSON CLASSES
Please note that you must reserve your space in advance. If you just show up without reserving a spot, there is no guarantee we will be able to accommodate you.
All levels are welcome, but this session is 21 and up.
When we host a class or workshop, we often order the materials to be used in the class well in advance, based on how many people have signed up (and padding a bit for safety). We also use class proceeds to pay our teachers. Although we realize that life has a funny way of getting in the way of the best laid plans, as a small non-profit we cannot afford to carry the burden of lost proceeds and materials.
Note also that event tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Thank you for understanding!
