Arkansas Reads Leopold: Community Reading EventAre you a nature lover? Join folks in our community for a reading event featuring excerpts from Aldo Leopold's “A Sand County Almanac,” a beautiful book about nature, and works by other writers on Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8. We'll be distributing free copies of the book! Aldo Leopold originated the "land ethic" and was a founder of the modern environmental movement. Attend, be inspired, share ideas, experience community, and connect with nature!
WHERE IS THE EVENT? Little Rock Audubon Center, 4500 Springer Blvd, in Little Rock.
WHEN IS THE EVENT? Saturday, March 7, 10 AM to noon. Sunday March 8, noon to 2 PM. Nature walks will follow on both days. Guided birding trips will also be offered.
WHAT WILL BE READ? Excerpts from “A Sand County Almanac” and books by other writers such as Douglas Tallamy and Robin Wall Kimmerer.
WHO ARE THE SPONSORS? Audubon Delta, the Arkansas Audubon Society, Central Arkansas Master Naturalists, Audubon Society of Central Arkansas, Sierra Club, and Wild Birds Unlimited.
WHAT IF I CAN’T ATTEND THE ENTIRE EVENT? Feel free to come to whatever part you can! Different excerpts will be read on different days. If you plan to join a nature or bird walk, bring binoculars if you have them. If not, the Center has pairs you can use. We'll offer activities for children. A limited number of free copies of “A Sand County Almanac” will be available.
WHAT ELSE? Enter the drawing for native plant door prizes -- there will be several!
