About this Event
Arion Press is proud to announce Riso printmaker Natalie Andrewson as the second speaker in the Arion Press Craft Talk series, in which we draw from our creative community to highlight the joy and industry of various handcrafts. Natalie will be presenting a talk called “Riso for Dreamers,” sharing how Riso encourages experimentation and personal expression, and “is overall awesome!”
The talk will be 60 minutes long, with an additional 20 minutes for the audience Q&A. Following the talk, a reception with light bites and a showcase of Natalie’s work will take place in the Arion Press Gallery.
Natalie Andrewson is an illustrator, comic artist and Riso printmaker from North Carolina, currently living in Los Angeles. She creates narrative-driven work inspired by fantasy, folklore, golden age book illustration and her childhood adventures in the Appalachian Mountains. She prints using a Riso machine, which gives her work a nostalgic, vibrant quality with fluorescent inks and a subtle texture that enhances their classic, storybook feel.
Natalie currently creates a new fantasy-themed Riso print for her monthly Riso subscription and sells her Riso prints in stores worldwide. She's worked in a variety of creative fields, including animation in visual development and character design, book and editorial illustration, music and branding advertisement, and regularly presents her work at comic art and book festivals.
