Homewise's Livability Speaker Series is a community education program created in 2023 that features local and national speakers helping residents learn how housing markets become unaffordable and ways to manage development patterns to increase affordability, sustainability, and livability. Our 2024 series will be held each month from May-October.


Childcare and interpretation will be provided. When reserving your ticket, please indicate if you need childcare or interpretation. This is a free, ticketed event that we anticipate will sell out, so we encourage you to get your ticket today!

Chris Wilson, the J. B. Jackson Chair of Cultural Landscape Studies, Emeritus, and founding director of the Historic Preservation and Regionalism Program at the University of New Mexico, will discuss how Santa Fe developed its unique regional identity and trademark architectural style, and the benefits and consequences. He will share his perspectives on how Santa Fe can preserve its history and culture amidst continued growth in a way that also maintains and builds community.

J. B. Jackson Chair of Cultural Landscape Studies, Emeritus, Chris Wilson was the founding director of its Historic Preservation and Regionalism Program at the University of New Mexico. He has also served a two year term as president of the Vernacular Architecture Forum, an international organization focused on the study and preservation of everyday buildings and cultural landscapes. His current focus: the reurbanization of cities as a central sustainability strategy.
