Aus folk troubadour extraordinaire Archer returns to The Old Church on the Hill, bringing with him US songstress Martha Spencer, on her current Aus tourArcher opens the show with his surreal, moving poetry and songs. With a raw, timeless voice and the soul of a poet, Archer is a wandering storyteller who sings by rivers, in nursing homes, and for children.
Martha Spencer is a singer-songwriter, mountain musician and dancer from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She grew up in the musical Spencer family and learned to play several instruments (guitar, fiddle, banjo, bass, dulcimer, mandolin) and flatfoot/clog at a young age. She performs and has recorded with various groups and has been involved with several roots music projects. She has played shows, festivals and led workshops across the US, Australia, UK, Canada, and Europe. Martha’s first solo album 2018 and latest release “Wonderland” in 2022 have been featured in articles in Rolling Stone Country, No Depression, Holler, Wide Open Country, Bluegrass Situation, Americana Highways, PopMatters and more. She also has been included in articles in the NY Times, Austin Chronicle and Billboard and was a part of the Fiddlin’ documentary movie
This top shelf double-act will bring their songs to ‘The Old Church on the Hill’ in Bendigo on Saturday 25 April for a musical evening not to be missed.

The Old Church on the Hill is on Djaara Country - the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung people and is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets, Quarry Hill, Bendigo.
The Singer/Songwriter Showcase events, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots crew on a semi-regular basis, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is kept as low as possible to ensure accessibility to all. Under 12s free and, although drinks are available for sale, the focus is on THE MUSIC.
Proceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives.
