First ever celebration in New Orleans on the revised date of the Feast Day of San Pedro Calungsod, second Filipino canonized saint. We are celebrating on the date our brothers and sisters in the faith back home in the Philippines are holding theirs. The venue is the new St. Ignatius Chapel in the campus of Loyola University, New Orleans. San Pedro Calungsod was the faithful companion of Spanish Jesuit missionary Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores. They were martyred on the same day in Guam.
Rev. Romeo "Billy" Velasco, from our neighboring Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, will be the main celebrant.
A detailed map of the chapel's location will be published shortly, including where attendees can park on campus.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary, novena prayers, celebration of the Holy Eucharist, and a potluck repast will be featured in the celebration. For more information, please contact Adlai DePano, coordinator of Filipino Catholic Ministry, Archdiocese of New Orleans at 504-722-0352 or [email protected].
