Don't miss this fascinating talk about Louisiana's sugar industry with archaeologist Paul Jackson. With over 36 years of experience in the field of Cultural Resource Management (CRM), participating in hundreds of projects across the Southeast, and as an Associate Director of Archaeology and Senior Archaeologist for Edwards-Pitman, Jackson oversees all aspects of archaeological investigations, specifically focusing on Late Woodland cultures across the Southeast. In the past six years, Mr. Jackson has been Principal Investigator and lead archaeologist for nine mitigations across the Southeast. These excavations included Fort Butler, a Civil War Fort, a sugar mill plantation main house complex in Saint James Parish, three antebellum sugar houses in Ascension Parish, a plantation in Baton Rouge with the largest collection of gunflints ever recovered on one site, a twentieth century farmstead in north Alabama, and a large Archaic and Woodland Indian village in Tennessee, a 12.5-acre Coles Creek site in Iberville Parish, Louisiana.
Throughout his career, Mr. Jackson has directed and managed intensive surveys with sites up to 50,000 acres and overseen survey, testing, and excavation projects in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
