As part of our 5 year celebration of all things ARC and Black Joy, Anti Racist Cumbria's Summit is being rounded up by our first ever comedy night...because yes you can still laugh when you're an activist, in fact it's essential that you do! Laughter is a powerful tool, and it’s the energy release we all need right now.So let's talk about our incredible line up!
We're kicking off by introducing your M.C for the night, the incomparable drag King, Don One!
Don One is a multi-disciplined performer and is undoubtedly, one of the funniest drag kings in the UK.
Next up is our comedy talent competition winner Tabish Akbar!
Tabish fought off some truly fierce competition and was chosen by the ARC panel to be our opening act. He's known for his sharp, punchy observational comedy and his creative and memorable premises... Tabish is fast establishing himself as one to watch.
Following Tabish, we have the sensational Desiree Burch!
Desiree is a comedian, writer, actor, theatre-maker and NY-to-London transplant. Desiree has quickly and firmly established herself as one of the breakout comic stars in the UK.
And last, but by no means least, we have the comedy legend and all round good egg that is Nish Kumar!
Nish has achieved huge success on the stand-up circuit with five rave-reviewed solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, two of which have been nominated for the prestigious Comedy Award for Best Show.
Alongside stand-up, Nish is a frequent voice and face across both television and radio.
There are limited tickets available for our comedy night, so snap them up while you can, events like this don't come up very often here in Cumbria!
The theatre doors open from 6pm where you browse our exhibitions, stalls and installations or simply have a drink in the bar! The show begins at 7.30pm and finishes at 9pm.
