About this Event
This historic property, serving now as affordable and beautiful housing for senior citizens, has a main building consisting of six different houses built at different times. One of these features, which will be open for the tour, is a Gothic-style chapel. With views overlooking Narragansett Bay, plants can be exposed to harsh winds and salt spray. Mature specimens include an ancient yew and London Planetree, believed to be original plantings from the 1850s. The mission of Harbor House Arboretum is to be consistent in replanting efforts to maintain the existing tree collection and canopy, maintaining the property's green diversity, and to encourage residents to engage in the landscape. Come see for yourself what makes Harbor House not only a unique property, but also a community.
