Greetings fellow Huckins Owners,We hope that this finds you well. Here in the Northeast, spring is upon us and we are getting ready for the boating season. Since our last letter, plans for the Huckins Rendezvous in Newport over the weekend after Labor Day, September 6,7,8, have come together well and we much hope you will join us for the festivities.
Dock space will be at Fort Adams. The rate is $5.25 per foot per night (about half the rate of the Newport marinas) and payment can be made directly to Sail Newport via Dockwa.
Electricity and fresh water are provided, as is a pump out facility. You are welcome at the docks any time on Friday after 12:00, and someone will be there to greet you and help with your lines. There is a scheduled launch service available to take you into town.
Friday evening, the AMAZING GRACE, sponsored by Oldport Marine and Blondies Raw Bar, sponsored by Latitude Yacht Brokers, will come to our docks. Aboard them will be a bar, a raw bar, and heavy hors d'oeuvres, starting at 5:30. Our sponsors for the opening party are Huckins and Pettit Paint. If you are still hungry, launch service will be available to take you to town, where there are any number of good restaurants.
Saturday, we plan to have a run up the bay to a sheltered location 10:00 - 4:00, determined by the weather. We will raft up and have a picnic lunch of your own making. Then we will return to the docks at Fort Adams. At 6:30 we will take a short walk to the Sail Newport facility for dinner at their new headquarters which has a wonderful second floor room with a deck that overlooks Newport Harbor. There will be a cash bar and an interesting talk by Keith Sargis of Novamar, the premier Huckins insurance broker. Dinner will be a catered island style buffet and is sponsored by Lamb’s Yacht Center.
Sunday morning, starting at 10:00, brunch will be served at the Ida Lewis Yacht Club. Launch service will be provided. This will be cash, payable there.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, costs for the weekend will only be $75 per person. For planning purposes, we kindly request you RSVP ASAP with the number of attendees in your party and send your check to:

Each of us has a Huckins because we enjoy the boats. Part of the fun is to see what other owners have done to theirs, and to share experiences. Each boat is part of a shared heritage, and the encouragement we provide is mutually beneficial. Considering that, we are asking attendees to send a picture of their boat and a blurb about it so books can be compiled for all participants. We look forward to seeing you in Newport.
