What better way to celebrate Arbor Day than by printing with leaves and tree rings from our favorite trees? Nature printing is the art of printing with pressed and inked specimens. This practice dates back to the 15th century. We’ll talk about the history of nature printing, explore and practice the technique, and learn what you can do with your printed papers.*This is a full day two part workshop with sessions in the morning and afternoon.Plan to attend both. There will be an hour break for lunch in between sessions.
In the morning, we will use relief inks, a brayer, leaves and tree rings to make nature prints on a variety of papers. By the end of the morning, each person will have a collection of prints waiting to dry for the afternoon session.
In the afternoon we will explore creative ideas for using nature prints. Paper and materials will be provided to make a small book, greeting cards, bookmarks, collage and anything that sparks your imagination. Mats will also be provided to frame your favorite prints.
This class is free. Bring some of your favorite leaves to class and come prepared to spend some relaxing time creating with others. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
