First formed in September 2020, the Aquilae Quartet brought together Polish, Scottish and Cornish backgrounds as a group.

Artist Bio

The quartet has received numerous hours of regular coaching from renowned chamber musicians such as: Krysia Osostowicz, Levon Chilingirian, Ursula Smith, Matthew Jones, Sarah-Jane Bradley and the members of the Endellion Quartet. They have also participated in masterclasses given by Kyoko Hashimoto, Luc-Marie Aguera, Alfred Brendel, Adrian Brendel, Charles Tunnell and Scott Dickinson. The Quartet have given numerous recitals in London and performed multiple times in Cornwall as part of ‘Tim Boulton and Friends’ concert series in Penzance and the ‘Dante Festival’, as well as performances as part of ‘Music Coll’ on the Isle of Coll. In 2023, Aquilae Quartet gave the UK premiere of Bacewicz Quartet No.6 at the ‘Dante Festival’ followed by a collaboration with Krysia and ‘Nova Ensemble’ to perform Mendelssohn Octet. The quartet have also been regularly performing for the GSMD in both recital settings and its annual ‘GSMD Chamber Festival’, playing a huge variety of repertoire ranging from early baroque to contemporary and many genres in between. Highlights include: Truro3Arts 24/25 season-opening recital, masterclasses with the Kuss Quartet followed by public performances in February 2025, and performing at No.10 Downing Street in June 2025. Recent performances include Music on the Moor Festival 2025 and Nova Classical Music Festival 2025, with an upcoming recital for Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution in January 2026.
