Aquatic Plant Identification Training – MMSD
Join MMSD for an in-person, hands-on training focused on aquatic plant identification. This session is designed to help develop subject matter experts, support jobseekers interested in environmental and water-related careers, and connect businesses looking to work with the District. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and practical experience in identifying aquatic plants, with additional elements covering invasive species management, while building connections within the industry and community.
The session will begin with an in-person classroom-style training at the Global Water Center, located at 247 West Freshwater Way, Milwaukee, WI 53204. The classroom portion will feature presentations, live plant samples, and hands-on identification instruction. Following the classroom session, participants will travel to Mitchell Park Pond (524 S. Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215) for an in-field learning session. The pond is approximately a 7-minute drive from the Global Water Center, and participants will be responsible for their own transportation.
Please note: Participants must bring their own lunch and beverages. Food and drinks will not be provided.

Info: The session will provide a general overview of aquatic plant identification and ecology, including hands-on instruction featuring several dozen aquatic plant species commonly found throughout southern Wisconsin.

Info: This session includes an in-the-field component at Mitchell Park Pond, located at 524 S. Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215. Please come prepared to be outdoors for a live aquatic plant identification session.
