Aquaponics is a sustainable farming method that combines aquaculture (the cultivation of aquatic organisms like fish) with hydroponics (the growing of plants in nutrient-rich water without soil).3 Aquaponic sessions over 3 Saturday afternoons:
1: Move 3 systems in to place, work out connectors and all that is needed for the next session. Q & A about your systems while we work.
2: Connect the systems add water and get ready for the last session. Q & A about your systems while we work. We will be working through the science and biology of the nitrogen cycle, then we will be assembling the aquaponic system. Learning about how important oxygen is in stability and longevity.
3: Add the fish, crayfish and plants plus table all your systems, balancing the water, plants to use etc. If you have attended at least one of the above workshops this is free too however if you haven't it will be $20 at the door. We will be introducing fish after the system has been biologically stabilised.
Just say you are going so we have numbers. Your workshop presenter is Benny Jacob. Benny has spent 13 years in the aquarium industry working with biological systems now implementing his knowledge into aquaponic systems to grow food.
The first part of the event we will be working through the science and biology of the nitrogen cycle, then we will be assembling the aquaponic system. Learning about how important oxygen is in stability and longevity.
