A guided canvas painting experience exploring happiness, self-expression, and emotional wellbeing through art.
This workshop invites young people aged 10–15 to create their own unique canvas painting representing what happiness means to them. Using yellow as our core theme, a colour often associated with warmth, hope, energy and light participants will explore positive emotion, personal strengths and inner resources in a creative and supportive environment.Through a blend of guided psychotherapy-informed practice and play-based creative techniques, this session gently encourages:Emotional expression through colour and texture
Building self-awareness and confidenceIdentifying personal sources of joy and resilience
Developing self-regulation skills through mindful painting
Creative risk-taking in a safe, non-judgemental space
Participants will work with canvas, acrylic paints and additional textured materials (such as mixed media elements) to add depth and meaning to their artwork.
The process is supported with gentle prompts and reflective guidance, allowing each young person to create something that feels authentic and personal.
No artistic experience is needed, the focus is on process over perfection.
Each participant will:Create and complete their own textured canvas artwork
Explore feelings in a developmentally appropriate way
Take home their finished piece the same day.
Facilitated by a qualified psychotherapist with training in play therapy approaches, this workshop integrates therapeutic principles into a fun, engaging and creative experience.
