Featured Storyteller: Kendra Hoey
After raising three kids while balancing a full-time career, Kendra Hoey left the corporate world in 2021 and moved to Florida, where she quickly felt at home in the 30A community—a place that fosters both entrepreneurial spirit and artistic creativity.
Inspired by the storytelling of Southern authors and a lifetime of reading fiction, she unexpectedly found herself writing her debut novel, The Panhandle Predicament. The mystery follows Trina Scotsdale, whose retirement takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a skeleton in Point Washington State Park shortly after moving back to her parents’ beach bungalow in Grayton Beach, Florida. As long-buried memories resurface, Trina becomes obsessed with identifying the victim, but the deeper she digs, the more her own past begins to haunt her. What starts as a simple curiosity soon turns into a gripping investigation—one that forces Trina to confront both the mystery in front of her and the demons within.
Through her writing, Kendra hopes to capture both the breathtaking beauty and serenity of the Florida Panhandle while delivering an engaging, immersive mystery.
