Let Your Inner Child Move and Play with Dance Remedy LancasterAbout this Event
Let Your Inner Child Move and Play!
As Spring blooms around us, experience in your whole self the qualities of wonder and curiosity. As a prelude to our dance, Heather Sowers faciliates simple activities that invite your inner child to move and play. We'll start with a singing warm up with movement that helps us notice these aspects of ourselves with non-dudgmental curiosity: kind mind, honest actions, tender heart, wise body and brave spirit. Through partner and group exercises we'll play and be curious about our whole selves. We'll end our dance with story time as Heather reads her original story " Anchored Inside" -- a balm for the child in us all.
Music curated by the one and only DJ Deep Earth -- a founding member of Dance Remedy Lancaster!!
Doors open at 2:45 and we begin at 3:00 p.m. with an introduction to ecstatic dance and our community. We end with a closing circle and the dance is done by 5:30. There are some interactive parts of our offering today and the majority of the event is ecstatic dance where everyone can move freely as they are led in the moment. People dance alone, with others without touching and with others with contact. Touch and contact is always consensual - everyone's boundaries and comfort levels are respected. We always have space for people to sit or stretch on the floor and take breaks as your body needs it, there is no expectation to move the whole time. Ecstatic dance events are sober without the influence of alcohol or drugs, and we don't speak on the dance floor or use phones, cameras or electronic devices.
