April Pet Social: Adventure Hike at J. Harold Ennis Preserve10:00am • Saturday, April 25
J. Harold Ennis Preserve
Spring adventures are officially underway, and this month we’re heading out on the trail!
Join us for our April Pet Social as we explore the beautiful loop trail at J. Harold Ennis Preserve. This will be a relaxed group hike through natural terrain, perfect for Adventure Teams who are ready to practice calm behavior while navigating the real world together.
Unlike our paved trail walks, this hike includes uneven terrain, dirt paths, and natural obstacles, which makes it a great opportunity to build confidence, focus, and teamwork.
Hiking together is fantastic practice for:
• Engagement and focus on the trail
• Loose leash walking over changing terrain
• Calm behavior around other pets in motion
• Navigating real world distractions like smells, wildlife, and hikers
Because we’ll be moving most of the time, this Social stays low pressure while still helping your Adventure Team build the calm, thoughtful habits needed for therapy animal work and real world adventures.

What to bring and what to expect:
• A 6 foot leash (no retractables)
• Comfortable hiking shoes
• High value treats
• Water for you and your pet
• Weather appropriate clothing
• A relaxed, ready to explore mindset
Important reminder:
There are no on leash greetings during the Social. Space and neutrality help every Adventure Team stay calm and successful on the trail. I’ll help you advocate if needed.
Suggested donation:
Pet Socials are free to attend, but we suggest a $5 donation per pet and handler team to support Living Creatures Ministry, a nonprofit helping train therapy animal teams for service in Lutheran congregations across the US.
If you and your Adventure Team are ready to stretch your legs, enjoy the woods, and practice real world skills together, this is your hike.
