Copland's Appalachian Spring and Barber's Adagio both carry that rare quality—instantly recognizable, deeply felt, and woven into the American imagination. Jennifer Higdon's blue cathedral opens a more private door, a meditation in sound. At the center of it all is Wynton Marsalis's Trumpet Concerto, with soloist Jens Lindemann guiding us through a shifting blend of jazz, blues, and classical traditions. It's a program that invites reflection—a layered portrait of American sound.
