About this Event
APT Gallery is pleased to present Apolune: Systems Normal, an immersive installation and live performance that reimagines the Apollo 11 moon landing through the neurodivergent lenses of artists Peyvand Sadeghian and Matthew Robinson. The exhibition runs 5–8 February with a programme of live activations, educational tours, and a full evening performance.
In July 1969, the words “The Eagle has landed” were broadcast from the lunar surface, sent to Mission Control in Houston, and echoed across the world. These iconic transmissions form the foundation of Apolune: Systems Normal, which transforms the gallery into an interactive 1960s-style mission control built from analogue technologies, 3D projection, personal artefacts, and uncorrected NASA transcripts.
At the heart of the work is a challenge to how archives are constructed—and what they leave out. Drawing on James McGrath’s Naming Adult Autism: Culture, Science, and the Self (2017), the artists explore autism not as a clinical label but as a vantage point from which to re-examine historical narratives. The result is a sensory-rich environment that disrupts conventional frameworks and foregrounds the textures of human experience that are often erased from official records.
Through live performance, Sadeghian and Robinson reanimate the Apollo 11 archive, filling its silences with movement, sound, and embodied presence. Oscillating between documentary rigour and poetic abstraction, Apolune: Systems Normalevokes both the vastness of space and the intimate, chaotic rhythms of consciousness.
