About this Event

The Division of Psychology and Mental Health is pleased to host our March seminar with Rebecca Williams, Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Cambridge
This seminar will take place in person, 12–1pm on Tuesday 17th March, in room 2B.025, Engineering Building B.
Rebecca is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, currently working at the intersection of dementia, neuropsychiatry and computational modelling. She did her undergraduate in psychology at the University of Oxford, followed by an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience.
Talk Abstract

Apathy is a common symptom in dementia, associated with a range of negative clinical outcomes, but current treatments are very limited. In my research, I explore a new way to conceptualise apathy, as a loss of confidence in the outcome of our actions. Combining this theoretical shift with computational modelling of both behavioural and neuroimaging data has given us new insights into potential causes and treatments of apathy in health and disease.
