Learn about apaakozigan (sacred tobacco) and its various traditional uses, and practice making apaakozigan from red willow! The workshop will be led by Deb Smith, member of the Red Lake Nation. Deb has previously worked in sacred tobacco advocacy at Fond du Lac and with the American Lung Association.
Supplies and dinner will be provided! We will have red willow on hand for everyone who attends, but you are welcome to harvest and bring your own if desired!
Since we will be using paring knives during the workshop, the hands-on part of the session will be limited to ages 12 and up. Youth under 12 can be in attendance with their families.
Please register at https://forms.gle/zGqdvdLkoPWoqbTK9 by 5pm on April 27th. Registering will help us know how much supplies to have available. This event is free and open to the public, all are welcome!
