About this Event

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend ANZSPR 2026, to be held in the stunning alpine setting of Queenstown, New Zealand, July 24-27 2026.

The three-day scientific program will deliver a contemporary exploration of paediatric imaging, with a strong focus on perinatal imaging, alongside updates by experts in neuroradiology, chest and MSK imaging, interventional radiology and quality & safety. The meeting will feature six international paediatric radiologic and surgical keynote speakers from North America, complemented by leading experts from Australia and New Zealand, providing personal insights, practical expertise, and future-facing perspectives. ANZSPR 2026 will also emphasize the exceptional collaborative work being undertaken across New Zealand and Australia, offering a platform for shared learning and professional connection.

Lane Donnelly, MD, FACR, Professor of Radiology & Pediatrics University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Chief Quality & Safety Officer, UNC Children’s Hospital, Executive Medical Director, Pediatric Population Health & Quality, UNC Health Alliance;

Carolina Guimaraes, MD, Chief of Paediatric Radiology, UNC Chapel Hill;

R. Paul Guillerman, MD, Professor of Radiology, Chief of Chest Imaging, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center;

Beth Kline-Fath, MD, FAAP, Professor of Radiology, Chief of Fetal and Neonatal Imaging, CCHMC;

Alan Daneman, BSc, MBBCh, FRANZCR, FRCPC, Professor of Radiology, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto;

Darrell Cass, MD, FACS, FAAP, Director of Fetal Surgery and Co-Director, Fetal Care Center at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.


An additional Friday program will be devoted to a dedicated Registrar Exam Review Course in Paediatric Imaging, and we warmly invite all interested New Zealand and Australian trainees to attend. This session will focus on core paediatric imaging knowledge useful in preparation for sitting the qualifying examination for the RANZCR, and includes a simulated OSCER platform.

A range of engaging social functions has been planned, providing opportunities to network, discuss cases, and foster collaboration in a relaxed and inspiring environment. Please join us at Eichardt’s Bar Friday after the Reg Day, and for a stunning view at Nest, voted one of New Zealand’s finest restaurants, on Saturday for the official conference dinner by beautiful Lake Wakatipu.

We are now accepting abstract submissions for podium presentation at ANZSPR 2026

We encourage all delegates and ANZSPR members to submit their research for consideration by Wednesday 1st April, 2026.

Abstracts must be submitted via email, with the following information:

3. PDF of abstract attached with corresponding name in the following format

Welcome to Queenstown, New Zealand. Here are a few ideas we have put together to help you get started on your extra-curricular itinerary.


Queenstown is New Zealand’s adventure playground, and with so many activities on offer there is something for everyone!


Queenstown is a winter wonderland and given it is surrounded by three mountain ranges, there are plenty of ski resorts to choose from. and are within an easy drive of Queenstown with return shuttle buses to the top of the mountain. For further information on the ski bus and pick up locations, check out the timetable or visit the at 25 Shotover St for any help with lift passes, ski bus or rentals. They also provide storage for multi-day rentals.

Rent your gear either from Queenstown (best for multi-days) or once you are up the mountain to avoid having to carry/transport equipment. Try or in central Queenstown for rentals and/or warm weather gear.


Other ski resorts in the area include and . These are a bit further afield but worth it for a day excursion. Buses also run to them from Queenstown but can be infrequent, or you can Park and Ride. Check out the above websites for details on lift passes and getting there.


After a long day head to in central Queenstown for an après ski soak and some much needed relaxation. Just a short drive out of town are the , where you can hire a private cedar spa with incredible mountain views. Contact them for a complimentary shuttle service from downtown Queenstown. is another option with full Day Spa services.


Feeling energetic? There are many beautiful day walks and hikes around the region. is a moderate 1.5-2 hr return hike from the back of Queenstown with stunning views over Lake Wakatipu. The best part: it’s free!


Want a similar lake view but without the hike? Try the . For the more adventurous, race your friends down the mountain on the track or speed down the mountain getting up to 70 km/hr on a zipline with . Stay for the evening sunset over the mountains at the or get a guided astronomy tour of the southern night sky with .


Try a wine tour with a local guide or else do your own self-guided cycling trip along the (9 km) sampling the local wineries of the Gibbston Valley. See below for a winery list. For all you photography buffs and astrologists, the is also a certified international dark sky park and an amazing place to view the night sky with light pollution blocked by the adjacent high mountain ranges. Keen on getting off the beaten track? Check out for 4WD tours of Skippers Canyon and the Shotover River. See location sites of the famous Lord of the Rings movies and try your luck at gold-panning on the riverbed.

If you are looking for more adventure on the river, try the famous and to combine two or more adventures in one day. Want more adrenaline? Then try your luck on the highest bungy in NZ at 134 m over .


If you think you’ve seen it all, have a look at ! Experience the thrill of a scenic lake boat ride like no other. Adventure out in a unique submersible boat that dives and leaps into the air at high speeds like a shark!


Or, if you are looking for a more relaxing holiday and keen on a spot of golf, there are two world class 18 hole courses open year round at , a short drive out past beautiful Lake Hayes. Try the at the ‘19th hole’ or make an evening of it and stay on for dinner at the fabulous restaurant.


Check out the historic village of , just a 20 minute drive from Queenstown. The main street has been lovingly restored to the bygone era of goldrush days, where the riverbeds made fortunes and thousands came to try their luck. Try an old-fashioned NZ meat pie at the , wander through the old miners huts along the riverbed or check out the old stone pub and church, cornerstones of village life. Visit the for history of the Otago goldrush as well as details of local Maori history and the effects of European colonisation. Or try a self-guided audio tour by downloading the app at


Want to venture a little further afield?

Head southwest into the Fiordland National Park and experience the spectacular Milford or Doubtful Sounds. Cruise on the fiord with or the Doubtful Wilderness Cruise. If short on time, check out and book a fixed wing scenic flight from Queenstown or a half day tour with return flights to Milford Sound and a 2 hour boat cruise.
