Since their 1981 debut, Hard N' Heavy, the group - co-founded by singer/guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner - has been recognized as one of the creators of the thrash/speed metal genre, especially with classics like Metal On Metal (1982) and Forged In Fire (1983).
Despite setbacks from bad record deals, management, and luck, Anvil never stopped rocking—while influencing generations of metal bands along the way. With the success of the critically acclaimed film Anvil! The Story of Anvil, the band has reclaimed its rightful place at the forefront of heavy metal.
