Please join 20th Star Chapter, NSDAR, for Antiques and Ancestors, a community antique and heirloom appraisal day on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Train Depot, located at 308 Newman Street in Hattiesburg. In the spirit of the PBS show “Antiques Roadshow,” the Pine Belt community is encouraged to bring personal items like jewelry, porcelains, pottery, small furniture, paintings, prints, lithographs, quilts, silver, coins, sports memorabilia, vintage clothing, military items, books, clocks, or primitives to be appraised professionally. Participants should only bring items they can carry in without assistance.
The cost is five dollars per item to be appraised. Cartwright Estate Liquidations and Appraisal Service will be on-site, joined by other qualified local appraisers in various areas of expertise. Wendy Cartwright stated, “It’s always fun and interesting to see what treasures others have. In 30+ years, we have seen a lot, but new things are always coming up. Our family heirlooms and treasures are sometimes a link to our history and our past. What better way to learn about our treasures and our family heritage!”
Event Disclaimer: Evaluations are based on the knowledge of the various appraisers. No written evaluations will be given. DAR is not responsible for damage to any items. Participants should secure each item. Items will not be accepted after 6:30 p.m. on the evening of the event. To receive a thorough appraisal of your items, please send photos and descriptions by April 1, 2025, to [email protected].
Information on searching for ancestral history and membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be available.
