In just one evening, I will teach you the basics of pottery, and you'll learn how to use the slab building technique to make a ceramic cup with half lid (travel style). After you have made your cup, you will have the opportunity to decorate it using tools, embellishment moulds and ceramic paints. I recommend bringing some designs, or a Pinterest board to inspire you.
For this event, I am inviting you to return to my Sunset on the Beach Pottery Painting session on Friday 22nd, to paint your cup. Usually, the painting is completed at the initial session, but it is easier and more effective to paint on a ceramic piece once it has gone through it's first firing cycle. It makes the colours more vibrant and the paintwork smoother. Ofcourse, if you're not able to attend the second session at the beach, you can paint your cup at Café Lorette.
At the end of this session, I will take your creations away to fire in my kiln, and cover with a transparent glaze. This will make your piece fully functional and long lasting. You can then collect your item from my studio (or delivered for a supplement). The finishing process will take 10-14 days (up to 21 days for those who choose to paint at the beach session) and you will be notified when your cup is ready.
Some details:
Date: Tuesday 12th May for the making session, and Friday 22nd for the painting session.
Location: Café Lorette, 26 Avenue de Nice for making. We will be painting at plage de L'Ilette (between Salis and Ponteil). Please bring a towel to sit on at the beach.
Time: 18h30 - 20h30 for both sessions.
Taught in English but French translation available. Please make sure to purchase the "preferred language: French" ticket.
Ticket: 35€, includes all materials and firings and some refreshments. 10€ deposit taken at booking. If you require your item delivered to you, there will be a 5€ supplement. Otherwise collection is from my studio in Antibes, near La Fontonne.
