Note from the director:Premere [to press, squeeze]
Premere is our second collection of works, set to premiere May 2026. In reflecting on the themes imbued in these choreographies, the idea of change surfaced constantly. But more than change itself, it was the pressure and the pursuit of it that led to the inception of these works. Whether you are navigating the pressures of ending a cycle, exploring how to enact change in society, or resisting the pressure to change who you are, it all felt encapsulated in our title, Premere. This Latin word for “to press” brings the action, which is so important when thinking of dance and movement. As we are always in motion, I like to honor that because it means we’re not stuck there.
We hope this performance invites you to reflect on the inevitability of change and all the pressures that come with it, while recognizing that moving through change with intention can lead to deep transformation.
This performance will include original works by our Artistic Director, Fernando Ramos, our guest choreographer, Gaby Hernández, and features original music by Rajah Bose.
Performance dates are Saturday, May 30 (7:00 pm), Sunday, May 31 (5:00 pm), and Monday, June 1 (7:00 pm).
