About Artist:
ANTANAS ADOMAITIS, a multidisciplinary self-taught artist, lives and creates in his hometown of Akmene, Lithuania.
Adomaitis has acquired an audience in his native country and abroad in countries, such as Germany, Poland, Holland, Switzerland, Canada, and the USA.
ANTANAS ADOMAITIS paintings contain many ironies and express a strange and foreign world to his audiences. The world can’t be described in words but must be experienced through the senses. In both, his art and his painting philosophy, Antanas is an intriguing combination of polysensory inspirations and complexity, bringing out the most diverse results attainable for a person with an unstoppable creative energy.
The Calder Gallery in their introduction wrote: “In the tradition of the great surrealists, Antanas ADOMAITIS reflects and studies the interplay between nature and psyche, forces of experience mingling with the stretching of the fabric of reality. The images are at once abstract, but tangible metaphorically. The artist brings forth tradition, yet carries it further into the realm of the unexpected. The images conjure reactions at the emotional level which is striking in its universality.”
In recent years, Adomaitis has been working as a sculptor carving out stone and wood with Lithuanian culture and heritage as the main focus of his creations.
His art is in private collections in his native Lithuania as well as in Germany, Holland, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Poland, Canada, and USA.
