About this Event
Welcome to the Annual Newman Lecture: Not Our Tribal Deity with Ron Rolheiser, OMI!
All atheism is a parasite feeding off bad religion. Every word we preach and everything we do pastorally ultimately reflects a certain concept of God. When our catechesis, preaching, and pastoral activities are colored by pettiness, tribalism, false fear, false piety, lack of compassion, and lack of common sense, we make God look petty and stupid. Reverence should forbid us from making God our tribal deity.
Rev. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, is a Roman Catholic priest and member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
