Our annual meeting is here! Join us on Wednesday, June 10th at the Worcester Public Library, where we will be joined by Courtney Henderson, the Co-President & DEI Committee Chair of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts.
Courtney Henderson is a political strategist, civic leader, and educator with extensive experience working across municipalities and organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Her work centers on civic participation, voter engagement, and community education, with a particular focus on ensuring historically marginalized communities are informed, represented, and empowered.
Courtney has served in municipal government, including as the City of Brockton’s first Director of Immigrant Affairs, where she led initiatives to improve access to city services, strengthen community trust, and support immigrant residents. She has since continued her public service work in government, focusing on re-entry efforts for formerly incarcerated individuals and supporting pathways for long-term recovery, stability, and positive community reintegration.
She currently serves as Co-President of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, where she works statewide on civic education, democracy protection, and equity initiatives. Courtney is also an executive board member of the Brockton Area NAACP and has led numerous workshops on civic engagement, leadership, and empowerment across the South Shore and beyond. A proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., she has led efforts in the South Shore area with a focus on supporting women and children through service, advocacy, and education.
In addition to her public service and advocacy work, Courtney is an adjunct professor at Massasoit Community College and Quincy College, where she teaches American Government, Women in Politics, and Civic Engagement. She brings over a decade of experience in political strategy, campaign management, and policy analysis and is the founder of Develop & Empower Consulting LLC, supporting candidates, elected officials, and organizations with strategic communications, constituent engagement, and public policy planning.
Courtney, an Ohio native, holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from Fisk University, where she graduated magna cum laude, and a master’s degree in International Relations from Harvard University.
