Annual Jemison Award Luncheon

The Alabama Venture Club is excited to announce Danny McKinney as the Keynote Speaker for the 2026 Jemison Award Luncheon!

Danny McKinney is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of McKinney Capital, a Birmingham-based family business specializing in acquiring and scaling field service businesses across the Southeast.

Raised in Birmingham, Danny gained firsthand entrepreneurial experience working in his family's business, Satellites Unlimited, supporting its growth from a basement startup in 1994 to a regional service provider with over 500 technicians by 2010. Drawing on these insights, he co-founded McKinney Capital in 2010 to serve as the family's investment arm, focusing on long-term capital deployment, operational transformation, and leadership development across a portfolio of field service businesses.

McKinney Capital acquired Landscape Workshop in 2010 and built it into one of the largest commercial landscape companies in the nation through strategic acquisitions and operational excellence. After recapitalizing with Carousel Capital in 2020, McKinney continued serving as a major shareholder and board member through the company's subsequent recapitalization with Ares Capital in 2025.

In 2022, the firm acquired Team Enoch, a residential HVAC and plumbing provider based in Dallas, TX. McKinney has led Team Enoch's expansion throughout Texas and into Florida by leveraging its proven growth playbook, achieving 300% revenue growth in less than 3 years.

A graduate of the University of Alabama with degrees in Economics and Finance, Danny serves on numerous non-profit boards throughout the Birmingham community, demonstrating his commitment to business excellence and civic leadership. While his business success makes for an interesting story, he takes the most pride in his role as a husband to his wife Amy and a father to their son Bain.
