The Milwaukee Domes Alliance's 2026 honors the past and supports the Domes’ future under theme, “Winning Design: Treasures Through Time.”In 1958, Milwaukee architect Donald L. Grieb won the design competition to reimagine the previously existing conservatory. His bold concept was selected from 33 entries, standing out for its innovative plan featuring three conoidal glass domes.
This distinctive midcentury modern form blended beauty with practical engineering. The Domes became a symbol of innovation, nature, and community that continues to inspire generations.
