Speaker Bios:
David Malpass
David Malpass is a Distinguished Fellow of International Finance at the Mitch Daniels School of Business at Purdue University. He is also the university’s Distinguished Fellow of International Finance. Malpass served as President of the World Bank Group from 2019-2023. He expanded financial commitments by 40 percent, expanded resources, streamlined operations, and maintained fiscal discipline. As a strong crisis leader, his tenure at the World Bank Group provided a record $440 billion in financing to developing countries in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, war in Ukraine, energy shortages, and humanitarian crises. Prior to serving as President of the World Bank, Malpass served as Under Secretary for International Affairs of the U.S. Treasury from 2017-2019. He led international economic policy, including finance, currencies, international taxation, China relations, debt restructuring efforts, investment security, and multi-country regulatory frameworks. Malpass worked to improve the global financial system, reform the IMF and World Bank, and promote currency stability policies through the G7 and G20.
David Cooper
David Cooper is the Chief Investment Officer of the Purdue Research Foundation and is responsible for overseeing investment assets totaling $7 billion including endowment, operating funds, and retirement assets for Purdue University and the Purdue Research Foundation. Previously, Cooper was the Chief Investment Officer of the $30 billion Indiana state pension plan, the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS). Before his time at INPRS, he was a Senior Investment Consultant for Anthem, Inc., one of the nation’s largest health insurance companies. Cooper holds an undergraduate degree from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Butler University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designee. In 2015, Cooper was presented the Sagamore of the Wabash Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Governor of Indiana.
