Anno Mitchell Artist Talk + Q&A

Fabrica’s Making Space artist residency for March 2026 has been awarded to artist Anno Mitchell, who is developing an immersive audio installation exploring the 1967 Torrey Canyon shipwreck - one of Britain’s most significant environmental disasters.

Join us between 4-6pm for a first public testing of the work, and experience an immersive, multi-speaker audio installation in the space. This will be followed by an artist talk + Q&A.

For this work, Anno Mitchell will be trialling a distributed audio system that she has been developing that allows fragments of voice and sound to move across the gallery in shifting spatial patterns. Voices may emerge individually, overlap in collective formations, or drift through the space in sequences inspired by navigational systems, weather movements and ocean currents. Visitors are encouraged to experience the work through movement and listening, encountering how the sound changes depending on where they stand and how long they remain in the space.

The public viewing will take place between 4-6pm and will be followed by a ticketed event for a small audience from 6.15pm, where Anno will share more detail about the background to the piece, and answer questions posed by the audience.

Audience insights and feedback from each of these events will be important to Anno’s development of the work toward a future exhibition.

Capacity for the evening ticketed event is limited and booking is essential. Ticket holders will be able to view the work between 4-6pm, and at 7.30pm, after the talk. Please note that there will be a short break between 6pm and 6.15pm as we set up for the evening event.
