The 17-19th of April (event ends sunday afternoon 19th), we portray a group of soldiers and castle staff at the time of the "second Polish war"; preparing for the offensive against the city of Riga, in early 1621. This is also precisely the time when Vadstena castle was finished being built.
Vadstena Castle is a very well preserved 16th/17th century castle with the majority of the castle in unaltered condition, both inside and out, thus optimal for historical reenactment.
We will be conducting activities in several parts of the castles preserved 16th/17th century rooms as well as towers, ramparts and corridors. We will have activities both in the castle yard and inside the castle. During the day, the castle will have paying visitors, but in the evenings we have the castle to ourselves for living history. There are opportunities for collective dinners in the lower parts of the castle (late 16th century) in the evenings as well as period sleeping arrangements.

Castle activities for visitors:
* Displays about handcrafts, 17th-century dress, and weapons and armor of the time.
* Black powder shooting from the towers. (Pending permits!)
* Guarding in and around the castle with rounds.
* Daily meals with period cooking over fire with a group-meal.
* Muster and pike drill.
* Rapier fencing
* Camp life display
* Soldiers march through the historical town of Vadstena.

General information:
Parking is available close to the castle. Cars with equipment can be driven into the caste yard to facilitate loading/unloading gear.
There are large heated areas for modern sleeping within restored parts of the castle.
If you want to participate but not sleep inside the castle at all, there are many nearby hotels.
The castle has strict rules for fire, so this will take place in a special elevated place for cooking. Because of the fire risk, straw in the camp is not allowed for mattresses and the like.
You can use tent pegs in the caste yard for the tents but the ground can be quite hard so hammers and iron pins may be required.
Modern bathrooms, cooking, refrigerators and running water are available during the whole event.
