Any of you that know me, know how much I love and admire Annie Capps. Annie was the person that really got me started on a life of songwriting when we worked together founding the SE Michigan group Songwriters Anonymous probably twenty years ago. She, and her husband and musical soulmate Rod, have forged quite the varied musical path since then, and are respected and beloved members of the Michigan music community. The Capps’ sound meets at the intersection of Americana & Folk citing rock, jazz and bluegrass influences. The duo is on a musical journey that began in 1982, culminating into a symbiotic sound that reflects their deep and intuitive understanding of each other. Annie’s disarming, earthy voice and solid command of her guitar are punctuated by Rod’s effortless, accompaniment and beautiful solo work on both guitar and viola. Together they weave unforgettable melodies that are at once intricate and sparse – musically completing each others’ sentences.
They will be joined by Jason Dennie on mandolin and guitar and Ozzie Andrews on bass on this return visit to our building in Old Town. I'm so pleased to be able to host them again, this is one not to miss!
